As Stretch Marks first appear they can present as very dark and deep, some may look purple in colour. After time these marks can lose their colour and appear pale and almost silvery in appearance. This is due to a loss of pigmentation. During this period of change within the skin, the skin’s structure which contains the Collagen and Elastin is damaged, leaving scarring we refer to as stretch marks.
While they are a perfectly natural occurrence and do not cause any harm, many people do not like the fact they have them and would prefer to see them go.
